Our Activities
Our 5-day curriculum is filled with hands-on experiments and engineering challenges designed for 3rd–6th graders.
Marshmallow Tower Challenge
Campers start off the week by competing in teams to build the tallest freestanding tower using only marshmallows and spaghetti. This classic engineering challenge teaches structural thinking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving, all while having a blast!
Forensics
Campers will use real forensic science techniques, including fingerprinting, chemical testing, and evidence analysis, to solve a mystery at a crime scene. It’s CSI meets the classroom!
Robotics & Circuitry
In this interactive robotics program, students will learn how robots are designed, built, and programmed. Participants will see a demonstration of a competition robot and learn how it works. They will then explore beginner robotics programming using small educational XRP robots. The program will also introduce students to youth robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO League and show how robotics teams design solutions to real-world problems.
DNA Detectives
In this hands-on biology workshop, students will explore DNA. Participants will extract DNA from fruit, build edible DNA models using candy, and learn basic biology concepts in an engaging, interactive way. To connect DNA with genetics, students will learn if they have the PTC taster gene by using a taster strip. Finally, students will craft a short, custom message on a beaded bracelet by translating amino acid codons into letters.
Rocket Launch
In this engineering workshop, students will explore the principles of flight and propulsion to learn how engineers get rockets into space. Participants will design, build, and launch their own rockets using 2-liter bottles, focusing on how aerodynamics and pressure create thrust. Through hands-on experimentation with water and air pressure, students will observe Newton’s Third Law of Motion in action. The program introduces physics and aerospace concepts in an engaging, interactive way while encouraging teamwork and creative problem-solving
